Phillip Alfus - President

 

 

Phillip began his hotel career in 1971 at The Saint Regis Hotel in New York City. He has worked throughout the country earning titles of General Manager and eventually Corporate Vice President. In 1983 he became an executive search consultant, and began utilizing his years of work experience and an extensive roster of industry contacts. Phillip established The Alfus Group, Inc. in 1992, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

His professional affiliations include: The American Hotel & Motel Association, Meeting Planners International, La Chaine des Rotisseurs, The Hotel Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and The American Society of Association Executives. Phillip was also elected a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University's School for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Administration. He has lectured to graduating classes at various institutions, done numerous speaking engagements for The Educational Institute and conducted seminars and training sessions for Corporate Clients.

 

Richard Hollocou - Director



With over 25 years of restaurant experience, Richard specializes in Food and Beverage executive placement.  Over the years, he's hired and trained Front and Back of the House staff at a number of venues. This experience helps him screen applicants, accurately advise clients, and present only the best possible candidates for each position. 

Prior to joining The Alfus Group, Richard served as General Manager of Le Bernardin, Gotham Bar & Grill, and Café Gray in New York City.  He also worked in a variety of Food and Beverage positions with InterContinental Hotels, and has experience opening and repositioning restaurants nationwide.

Richard has a degree in Economics and Accounting from Manhattan College.  He is a member of The American Sommelier Association and The Conferie de Beaujolais.  He was nominated for a James Beard Award in 1996 for Outstanding Wine Service in America.

 
 

Davina Anderson - Director of Search Administration



Davina oversees all administration and accounting. Her warm and glowing personality accommodates clients and candidates, while her meticulous attention to detail ensures the house is always in order.

A multi-talented woman with an entrepreneurial spirit, she also enjoys participating in various events for the fashion and beauty industries in her free time.

Davina has a degree in Legal Studies and Business Administration from Saint John's University. We're proud to have this brilliant and spirited woman be the smiling face that welcomes you into The Alfus Group.


     

Dawn Waters - Director

Over 10 years of sales success generating revenue for hotels in New York City. Dawn Waters is a sales executive with comprehensive experience and a consistent track record of exceeding goals in hospitality sales in on-site, remote, or pre-opening environments. His career is marked by steady advancement at companies such as the Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel, Starwood Hotels of New York and New Jersey, the Westin Jersey City Newport, and the Four Seasons Resort.

He’s a collaborative leader skilled in motivating sales staff to achieve aggressive goals and objectives. Recognized as significant revenue contributor, Dawn excels in identifying and optimizing new business opportunities while expanding on revenue from existing accounts. His proven ability to gain a trusted advisor status with client executives and other decision makers coupled with strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills makes him a valued asset here at the Alfus Group.

 

Howard Segal - CPA & Financial Consultant

With over 21 years of experience, Howard brings expert accounting knowledge to The Alfus Group. In addition to handling internal accounting, he’s a valuable advisor for executive placement of clients’ financial positions.

Howard received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brooklyn College. He is licensed as a CPA in the State of New York. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.


Additional Research & Administration


Panchali Hettiarachchi- Director of Research

Panchali joined our team with a background in both International Relations and recruiting. Having been exposed to different aspects of both fields, she has knowledge from research and recruiting to lobbying efforts. An independent and outgoing individual with strong attention to detail, she makes certain her work speaks for itself.

Panchali has a Master’s Degree in International Conflict Studies from King’s College London. Her interests span outside the office; she provides assistance to the Staten Island Buddhist Temple, where she teaches to children under the age of 5, along with her involvement with various non-governmental organizations in London by providing research and policy analysis.

Hayley Virgil - Research Assistant

Hayley’s experience working as a writer and editor for magazines across the tri-state area makes her an ideal research assistant and copy editor. As the present liaison between the office recruiters and administration, Hayley is responsible for editing all resumes that come across her desk in addition to preparing search lists, running the social media pages, and updating the Alfus Group’s blog with all of their most recent and placements. Her precise nature and sharp eye ensure that every resume is picture perfect and free of errors.

Not only is she a recent graduate of Kutztown University’s English and Professional Writing program, she has even worked to earn a minor in literature. Her dedicated work truly makes her a linchpin of the Alfus Group team.
