Phillip Alfus, President



Phillip began his hotel career in 1971 at The Saint Regis Hotel in New York City. He has worked throughout the country earning titles of General Manager and eventually Corporate Vice President. In 1983 he became an executive search consultant, and began utilizing his years of work experience and an extensive roster of industry contacts. Phillip established The Alfus Group, Inc. in 1992, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

His professional affiliations include: The American Hotel & Motel Association, Meeting Planners International, La Chaine des Rotisseurs, The Hotel Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and The American Society of Association Executives. Phillip was also elected a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University's School for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Administration. He has lectured to graduating classes at various institutions, done numerous speaking engagements for The Educational Institute and conducted seminars and training sessions for Corporate Clients.


Richard Hollocou - Director

With over 25 years of restaurant experience, Richard specializes in Food and Beverage executive placement.  Over the years, he's hired and trained Front and Back of the House staff at a number of venues. This experience helps him screen applicants, accurately advise clients, and present only the best possible candidates for each position. 

Prior to joining The Alfus Group, Richard served as General Manager of Le Bernardin, Gotham Bar & Grill, and Café Gray in New York City.  He also worked in a variety of Food and Beverage positions with InterContinental Hotels, and has experience opening and repositioning restaurants nationwide.

Richard has a degree in Economics and Accounting from Manhattan College.  He is a member of The American Sommelier Association and The Conferie de Beaujolais.  He was nominated for a James Beard Award in 1996 for Outstanding Wine Service in America.


Dawn Waters - Director

An experienced and energetic Sales Executive with over 10 years of proven success in hospitality, Dawn brings a wealth of industry knowledge to The Alfus Group team. 

Prior to his transition into Executive Recruitment, Dawn held a six year tenure with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, followed by another six year run with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. His career is highlighted by steady advancement and accolades, consistently leading his teams to achieve ambitious sales goals.

Dawn has a degree in Marketing & Communications / Public Relations from New York University. He's a creative self-starter, and a great asset to the team.


Morgan English - Director of Research 

Morgan oversees the Research Department at The Alfus Group, with active sourcing and outreach to stellar candidates on a daily basis. Working hands-on with the recruiters, she plays a critical role in ensuring our clients always Hire the Best.

An entrepreneur in her own right, Morgan also operates and curates a digital art gallery, serves as an Associate Producer for indie documentary films, and runs independent PR campaigns for artists and non-profits. 

Morgan has a degree in Documentary Film Production from the University of Central Florida. She's a tireless worker and an invaluable part of The Alfus Group team.


Davina Anderson - Office Manager & Executive Assistant

Davina oversees all administration and accounting. Her warm and glowing personality accommodates clients and candidates, while her meticulous attention to detail ensures the house is always in order.

A multi-talented woman with an entrepreneurial spirit, she also enjoys participating in various events for the fashion and beauty industries in her free time.

Davina has a degree in Legal Studies and Business Administration from Saint John's University. We're proud to have this brilliant and spirited woman be the smiling face that welcomes you into The Alfus Group.


Mary Kelly - Research & Administration Assistant

Mary provides crucial support to the entire Alfus Group staff. She collaborates with the Director of Research on a daily basis, actively maintains the corporate database, is responsible for the blog and social media content, and prepares all resumes for submission to clients.

A spunky and soft-spoken woman with a kind heart and a dry wit, she also participates in podcasts, theater tech, and performs stand-up comedy in her spare time.

Mary has a degree in English Literature, with minors in Communications and French, from Florida State University. She's a great team-player, and a major contributor to The Alfus Group's continued success.

Susan Wilner, Senior Associate

With a background of ten years in Hotel Food & Beverage and Rooms positions, Susan brings an informed approach to hospitality research.  Her connections and professional expertise make her a valuable asset to the team.  When she is not assisting The Alfus Group, Susan serves as an adjunct professor for NYU’s Hospitality Management program.  She has a degree in Hotel Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.


Howard Segal, CPA & Financial Consultant

With over 21 years of experience, Howard brings expert accounting knowledge to The Alfus Group. In addition to handling internal accounting, he’s a valuable advisor for executive placement of clients’ financial positions.

Howard received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brooklyn College. He is licensed as a CPA in the State of New York. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
